January 06, 2014 (PN2). Prof. Tom Henning Johansen, Professor of Advanced Materials and Complex Systems at the Department of Physics at the University of Oslo in Norway, has been awarded the Honorary Doctorate from the University of Wollongong, Australia, at the December 18, 2013 afternoon ceremony. Strong ongoing research links of Prof. Johansen with the University of Wollongong (UOW) and, in particular, with the School of Physics and Institute for Superconducting and Electronic Materials (ISEM) have been highly acknowledged. Prof. Johansen is currently an Honorary Professorial Fellow at the School of Physics (UOW). This honorary appointment has followed the outstanding success in the series of joint, highly competitive Australian Research Council (ARC) grants and well recognized publications on magneto-optical imaging in superconductors and magnetic materials, which culminated for Prof. Johansen in gaining the highly competitive and prestigious ARC International Professorial Fellowship (ARCIF) within one of the joint grants with Professor Alexey V Pan, who is Associate Professor at the School of Physics and Senior Coordinator of Thin Film Technology (TFT) Program at ISEM.
